13 Weeks 1 Day

Ruderus is pushing itself into a normal ish position I think. My bladder is pushed uncomfortably forward and my cervix feels like it's trying to prolapse (I don't think it's a real prolapse) which should mean that my uterus is trying to antevert. Maybe in a few days it will have completely fallen forward and be where it is supposed to be? I'm sure my intestines and bladder would be happy about that.
I'm also feeling twisty ligament twinges of pain, which is pretty good for my hopes.

A friend told me that her pendulums both told her that I was having triplet girls. I informed her if 3 babies fall out of me at once I'm driectly blaming her.

14th Week of Pregnancy
Fundal Height: Uterus is lazy and remains retroverted. When I lay down I can feel the fundus just at the pubic bone as last week but when I check vaginally I can feel the uterus filling out the pubic bone and the cervix is crammed up under my pelvic bone. Looks like this:
Fetal Heart Tone: Not detectable on fetoscope. Will attempt a few times next week. As uterus is anterior it might not be
Heard until much later.
Fetal Position: All over the place, I think.
Symptoms noted in the past week:
Increased Sense of Smell
Exhaustion (letting up slightly)
Nausea (at night mostly vomiting)
Irritability
Breast changes
Terrible migrane
Belly!
Last week: Sometime last week I transitioned over to the second trimester. Yay! Fetus head grew to about 1/3 the size of the body (or, rather, the body grew to fit the head). It's placenta is mostly controlling nutrient and growth and works to grow and keep up with its fetusy-self. It has vocal cords and started teeth production and stuff. Weeee.
This week: Fetus will grow to like 4-5 inches or so this week. It will have distinct genitalia (not visible usually on most ultrasound) and it's working on expressions (eee). It's kidneys are functional and producing urea.

Yesterday and today I have had a horrible migrane. It's actually so bad that I have been puking from them. And shaking. No temperature so it's just me suffering.

Considered taking a prenatal today. Abruptly stopped considering taking a prenatal today when the thought made me quite sick.
My uterus feels like it's trying to roll over. The majority of it is sitting on my sacrum and coccyx and my cervix has folded in on itself.
The posterior portion of my uterus was really firm so I think someone was hanging out there.

HOW TO USE A SPECULUM WITHOUT MAIMING YOUR UTERUS
So
The problem with speculum use repeatedly is that lots of times when one is inserted it is pushed all the way in like this. Usually it settles in the space under the cervix and lots of times it gets jammed into the cervix.
Then, as you can see, when it's opened it scrapes the cervix and can be painful and annoying. Doing that every day would be super hard on your cervix.
First, generally you will find the cervix about 2-4 inches back. ALWAYS. CHECK LOCATION FIRST.
Open the bills like an inch. Maybe an inch and a half depending on how fat your cervix is.
Push the speculum back toward the cervix so the bills are above and below the cervix. I usually stick my finger in there and guide at this point but that was hard to show in pictures.

VALID POINT. Let me describe in badly done pictures how I do that.
This is my atrocious rendering of the parts of the female reproductive system that are important to this explanation. I have labeled various parts because I'm pretty sure you can't tell.
(Just a side note: the outer female reproductive organs and openings and such are collectively known as the VULVA. Not the vagina. The vagina is the inside tube-y thing. PLEASE STOP CALLING VULVAS VAGINAS BECAUSE IT DRIVES ME CRAZY PLEASE.)
SO THIS IS HOW TO BE NICE TO YOUR UTERUS.
Position the speculum with the bills closed.
Insert speculum in about 1/2 way to the cervix. You need to get past the pubic bone or this ordeal is painful.
Open to desired... Uh... Open ness and lock the mechanism into place.
It is often better to see and you get a clearer view if you don't place the speculum into the vagina fully and only open it to the first lock. Some people need a wider opening and that's cool but more open isn't necessarily better.
And that's really all. I PROMISE MY CERVIX STILL LIKES ME.

Developmental growth:
Fetus is 4.5 inches long (approximately). It has lanugo (the soft hair covering). It's legs and arms are lengthening so they look more people-proportioned and it moves around and stuff.
This week: Fetus will grow to about 4.75 inches long. Fat deposits will start to form , setting the stage for metabolic regulation.

Got cervix at a really good angle.
I have been having excruciating upper abdominal pain all day. I'm getting sick. >:0 My oldest had a 4 day fever-filled cold and now my youngest is in the middle of it. I know I'm next.
School starts tomorrow. I'm hoping I can at least make it to Thursday afternoon before really needing to rest. Sigh.

Godness, I'm so tired. Previously gestated spawn are taking turns being sick so I'm about to collapse unceremoniously on the ground and lay there.
On another, maybe happier note, I have officially expanded my way out of my regular clothes and must resign myself to maternity. My shirts keep riding up and my pants are unbuttoned. Just in time... School starts again the day I hit 11 weeks.

Fetal Position: Given the oblong shape of my uterus I'm willing to bet its transverse. Uterus is misshapen a bit on my right.

Fetal development!
Last week: now the size of a kumquat,
heart will nearly complete development and the brain will take over it's beating. Eyes are moving to the front and ears are gaining actual shape and don't look like holes anymore. Webbing between the fingers will nearly disappear and most major organs will have formed.
This week: embryo is now a fetus! This week head to body ratio will be abut 1:1. The placenta Is finishing forming while the body straightens out. Eyes will finish moving to the front. Yay fetus.

I am in the final embryonic stages-- when I hit 10w embryo will officially be a fetus. Don't believe those apps that say 8w begins the fetal period-- it's 10. The baby is 8w old when this happens but you are 10w pregnant.
We are at Carnegie stage 21 and embryo can now move! Eeee~~~~
